Hi can you post the following on your club site to make your members aware of whats happening,
Thanks.
Hi folks, for those that don’t know me, I am Colin Hislop, and have been a keen Mountain biker for a long time and have ridden most routes from Fort William to the 7 Stanes. As you all probably are aware, in 2014 the Commonwealth Games, and in particular the Mountain bike event is coming to Scotland. The track is being built on the Cathkin Braes.
Once the games are over the track is being given t...
o the local community to manage. St Martin’s Church, Ardencraig Road, Castlemilk, is a disused Catholic Church that the Diocese has also been given to the community. I managed to get involved in the committee that has been set up to transform the Church into a sports venue which will incorporate an indoor climbing wall and mountain bike center, as the Commonwealth track will be right on its door step.
My main reason that I got involved was to try and ensure that the track doesn’t get sanitized by “doo gooders†and “Health and Safetyâ€Â. I want the track to be as big an attraction as any other mountain bike track in Scotland, and it will be right on everybody’s doorstep with no real travelling involved.
At the Church will hopefully be a bike workshop/repair centre and bike hire pod similar to the old Glentress set up with outdoor café and wash down facilities.
We need to gauge how many people would use this centre to enable us to make sure it can cater for the number of people that would use it. If this is somewhere you would use please give us a “like†at www.facebook.com/#!/CathkinBraesMoutainBiking and pass it on to friends and clubs.
Thanks, Colin.
Thanks.
