Ahoy All, I hope it's been a Merry Christmas for everyone. Can anyone give a bit of bottom bracket advice, please? In an act of probable madness, I have bought the constituent parts of a carbon fibre road bike, online directly from a Chinese manufacturer. Frame, forks, stem, bars, post and saddle. 50mm carbon tubular wheels too. Tres, tres light. All in lovely stealth black naked carbon finish. The plan is to assemble it myself with a UK-bought groupset (probably Ultegra mechanical). I have (I think) attached a document to this thread containing two photos of the bike parts. My question is this: the space on the frame where the bottom bracket sits does not have the metal threads into which the bottom bracket itself is screwed. What are these frame threads called? Online research would appear to show them named as the "bottom bracket shell", or similar. Do such threads come with the groupset itself, or are they a separate purchase? I'll admit that this project is straining the limits of my technical knowledge, so all gems of advice gratefully received. This project is also a bit of a gamble, I know. But what the hey. Cheers Kevin PS. "Chinarello" is the online slang for such bikes; a combination of "Chinese" and "Pinarello". Attachments:Chinarello - Photos.docx (916.46 KB)

Hi Kevin I think your bottom bracket shell is designed for the push fit bottom bracket designs, for example BB30 and similiar types. The bearings are pushed in to the frame so no threads are required. I cant down load the link you posted so cant see what you have. The article below should help you. I think you can get kits to convert cranks to BB30. Have a look at the article and if your still stuck get back to me. www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/complete-guide-to-bottom-brackets-36660/
