I'm looking to change tyres from 23mm to 25mm in the near future (thanks to Douglas for the suggestion) which will ideally be suitable all year round, increase puncture resistance and hopefully rattle my bones a bit less over uneven surfaces. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi Scott, I use Continental Gatorskins, which are a popular choice for durability. Mine are 23mm but they come in 25mm as well. SportPursuit currently has a flash sale on Gatorskins and the GP4000s but only the 23mm version. www.sportpursuit.com/sales/continental-sep you might find them cheaper elsewhere with a bit of looking. Interested to hear other people's tyre choices.

Continental Gatorskins are a good choice for a year round tyre, I rate Continental tyres generally. The Gatorskin is a bit more heavy than a racing tyre though. Dont forget fatter tyres decrease the room for mudguards if you need to fit them.

Thanks to all for the advice. I've gone for the Continental Grand Prix 4 season -I can remember a time when I used to pay that sort of money on tyres for my car!

Went out for a run this morning with the new tyres - what a difference! The ride is so much smoother now particularly on relatively uneven surfaces, well worth making this upgrade.

That's great Scott. Hope you're feeling better and that we'll see you back out on a club run soon!

Hi Douglas, I'm going in for my operation next week. Really missing the club runs and hope to be back towards the end of November. In the meantime I've been ticking over with the odd easy run out i.e. avoiding hills. Hope to go back up Gleniffer Braes one day as I need to collect the bits of myself that I left up there!!! Cheers, Scott
