There was a good turnout of racers and supporters for the first race of the Hawks Road Race Trophy Series 2014. In the Youth D category Scott Bryce rode an excellent consistent race maintaining his position in the peloton and securing 8th place. In the Youth C category Scott Jenkins showed tenacity as he fought to maintain contact with a four man group and secured 14th place. Also in Youth C was Tom McHugh riding his first ever event. Tom gave a gutsy performance and secured 20th place. Well done one and all. I am sure your endeavours will serve as a spur to the rest of the Hawks. More races on the way so get your entries in.
Results after Round 1
Youth D Male
Kristofer Bryce 33 points
Youth C Male
Scott Jenkins 27 points Tom McHugh 21 points

Trefor, I am not sure what the Hawks Road Race series is. I am sure there are other club members the same. Is this something we can come along and watch, where and when and is it only Glenmarnock Hawks who can participate. Clarification would be helpful.

Hi Morley The series comprises of five criteriums that the Hawks are competing in this year. The criteriums are in various locations, Bellahouston Park, Larkhall Go Cart Track, Stirling etc. They are organised by various clubs. I just selected five from the calendar for the Hawks to focus on entering en masse for solidarity, support etc. The next race is tonight at Larkhall Go Cart Track, after which its the 3rd of July at Belahouston. Races usually start at 6:15 for the under eights. Im awarding points on placing with 40 points for 1st down to 1 for 40th. The races also form part of the WOSCA Youth Series and Kris is sitting in 8th place in that competition. You can go along to watch, its good fun.
Cheers
Tref

I was Commissaire at Meadowbank last weekend for the National Youth track championships. This weekend in Dundee is the National Scratch race and endurance championships. In both events there are categories for Youth C which seem to be 10 to 12 boys and girls. In the girls sprints at Meadowbank there were two entrants and for the boys 5. Is this something the Hawks could aim for for 2015. The kids at Meadowbank were good but were beatable. If so can we get more to do the youth accreditation at Glasgow Velodrome?

It would be good this winter to get some of the kids through their accreditation ready for a bit of track racing next year.

Hi Folks
Re The Hawks Racing Trophy Series
I have collected all the results from the WOSCA Youth Crits and Dirt Crits. I have awarded points according to placings with 40 points for first down to 1 point for 40th. The results are as follows;
Youth E Female: Ella McHugh: 38 Points
Youth D Female: Lauren Chalmers: 35 points
Youth D Male: Kristofer Bryce: 260 points Mark Herbert Ruiz: 65 points Louis Plunckett: 33 points Paul McHugh: 24 points
Youth c Male: Euan Chalmers: 105 points Struan Kingdom: 100 points Scott Jenkins: 54 points Tom McHugh: 47 points Issac Duffy: 30 points
Regarding the open club hill climb and 10 mile time trial championships Scott Jenkins won the time trial and Struan Kingdom won the hill climb.
The first placed in each category will receive a medal. In total we had 12 Hawks try their hand at racing in 2014 out of a total membership of 17. Thats a very good effort for our first season.
Well done all of you. Heres to more racing and sucess in 2015.

Thanks Tref, It was a good season for Kris and we are looking forward to this season. We are kicking it off in the pollok cx on feb 1st. We have been attending the WoSCA track session and Kris has grown in confidence and is doing well in his catagory. Sorry i will not make the AGM due to my shifts but If we are still here i am hoping to offer you more assistance.
Kris has said that he really enjoys being in the club and meeting his new club mates. Well done to all the racers it has been great to see.
