Following on from last Friday's discussion about the club name and jersey I thought Id draw up a list of whats been suggested so far. I got strong vibes not to touch the jersey and leave Glenmarnock in the title which is great. Here are the suggestions;
Glenmarnock Wheelers (1 big club, 8 to 80 and all that)
Glenmarnock Junior Wheelers (exactly what it says on the tin)
Glenmarnock Juniors (short and to the point)
Glenmarnock Wee Wheelers (we are a Scottish club after all)
Glenmarnock Gorilas (to give a nice short GG effect)
Glenmarnock Lions (Our club badge is the lion rampant)
So cast your votes please or add your suggestion below

I have been thinking about our name and thought about.
Team Glenmarnock and just Team G when we are cheering them on. It would help embed a team spirit or even just The G team.
A bit like the sky set up which is popular with young cyclists or Racing Team Glenmarnock that Would tie in with Drummond Racing.

Linking the name to a fast moving bird or animal is quite normal and acceptable for a club like this. Having looked at a few websites and sporting clubs, how about Glenmarnock Falcons. Kit can stay basically the same with a swooping Falcon added to make the distinction.

What about the Glenmarnock Tornado's. It will suit the weather they cycle in if nothing else.
Falcons is a good one but once they get to about 10 the birds and animals just dont cut it. Its all about the xbox fast and furious or the need for speed.
The Glenmarnock spuds after spd pedals finally just Glenmarnock Young Team.
I am reading a book called the chimps paradox maybe them Gorillas was a good idea. Good luck folks

Thanks for the input folks. Ok so a few more suggestions gives us the grand total of 11 names to choose from. Now if I hear a strong call for any of the following Ill take the suggestion to the committee for final approval. So lets hear your arguments for any of the below. Ill allow this to run for the next 5 days after which I need to firm things up as I have an advertisement to send to Scottish Cycling so they can promote the club.
Team Glenmarnock (Team Spirit)
Racing Team Glenmarnock (Pro just like team Sky)
Glenmarnock Falcons (Powerful and fast moving)
Glenmarnock Tornado's (Matches the weather)
Glenmarnock Young Team (Very street)
So nominate below

Ok so ill start. I like the name Glenmarnock Lions. It keeps the animal theme going and would allow us to resurrect our old club badge (a lion rampant within a spoked wheel). Its new and fresh but old and traditional at the same time. I think it might be more acceptable to older kids than some of the other suggestions. My second choice would be Glenmarnock Falcons and third Glenmarnock Tornado's.

Having spoken to my two boys, we're a bit of traditionalist, I'm afraid. So for us it has to be -
1 Glenmarnock Wheelers 2 Glenmarnock Junior Wheelers 3 Glenmarnock Juniors

And the winner, by popular vote, is;
Glenmarnock Falcons
Morley, our in house graphic designer, is working on the jersey design ready to be sent to Endura. You'll all get to approve his designs before final submission.

As we are back a step or two due to not being permitted to use Falcons, we can change quite easily. The photo is a first try at a design very close to the current shirt. Kevin suggested Kestrels and there are Hawks. It would be easy to change the word on e basis that one bird of this type looks very similar to another.p Attachments:
