Accreditation - Stage 1 and 2 (did this wed and thurs 7th and 8th Nov.) For those who will do this in due course I thought I would post what happens.
Stage 1 - Bikes, shoes and helmets if needed are all ready to be collected at start. The session is very very safe. To start with a number of laps on the blue just to get used to fixed gear and no freewheel. Controlling speed and showing that you can stop, start, speed up and slow down. Then onto lower part of track up to red line. Not fast, not far to fall, stay relaxed, easy. The rest of the hour is doing more and more of that and getting gradually faster. This is to show you can ride a bike. you are not asked to go to top of banking.
Stage 2 - First thing said was do 25 lap warm up. Which sounded worse than it was. (4 miles ish). Everybody started, mostly riding on blue line and just going round and round. In groups of 7 or 8 we then did different disciplines. Starting on pursuit lines and lapping in line and peeling off each lap. That lasted for a good 20 minutes. Then in groups follow experienced person who went all over the track on purpose, up to the rail, swooping down, slow, fast always in line. Also a good 15 mins of that. Then a bit of free time to do lapping with what we had learnt.
So for those who are wary of the track, don't be. It was fun and is soon picked up. The trick is to ride the bike relaxed and at sensible speed and the banking is taken out of the issue. If I can do it anybody can.

It has been at least a month since I sat down with a person from the Glasgow Life team and probably no surprise but nothing has been heard since then. I phoned again today and was told that all block accreditation bookings are on hold and they will be looked at in the new year. This has not been communicated to the many groups who have applied. The focus is still on getting individuals through the accreditation. So I will try again just before Christmas and try to annoy them like they are annoying me!!

I spoke to Kevin the Glasgow Life head coach last night at Track League. He says that they still haven't done anything about block accreditation as the take up for individual accreditation is still very high. I know that there have been block bookings by clubs for those already accredited. I will call in and try to speak to someone face to face before AGM.

I went in to the Velodrome this afternoon and spoke to Karen who is responsible for corporate bookings. She stated that the spring timetable has been organised and it doesn’t include block accreditation. So thinking we were back to square 1 she then said that if we can organise ourselves there is no reason why we couldn’t book a load of people at the same time so it feels like a block booking. I am happy to explain all this on Saturday at AGM. For those who can’t make it this is what we need to do. Anyone can book for the 4 accreditation sessions and you can now do this one month in advance. You have to be a member of Glasgow Club through Glasgow Life. Once you have an ID number we can then make the booking. If I can then get all names and all ID numbers I can make the call and book as many spaces as are needed on the one session. It is cumbersome but it should work. So if you are interested in doing this please sign up to Glasgow Club and let me know name and ID. To do this on-line, go onto the Emirates Arena web-site / Velodrome and at the bottom of the page are two information boxes. One is for weekly timetable and the other is to book a session on-line. Click that and fill out the application and submit. If this can be done in the next week we could organise stages 1 and 2 for early March. Timetable - The Intro is 1st stage and Improver is 2nd. 3rd is Preparation and 4th is Accreditation. Please let me know if you have any questions. www.emiratesarena.co.uk/velodrome/Pages/default.aspx

For those booked in, don't forget INTRO SESSION TUESDAY 5TH MARCH 6pm. Give plenty of time to get bike, shoes etc and be ready to start at 6pm. When you get to the desk you do need to pay. See you all on Tuesday. M

Graeme, Kyle and Virginia are at track today to do intro session. Then Thursday 14th at 7pm we have the 2nd session. So that should mean a large grouping of Glenmarnock members.
Sean, Garry, Pauline, Trefor, George, Graeme, Kyle, Bev, Virginia, Graham Cairns and I will be watching. Same as before but be prepared to work a bit harder than on session 1.
See you there

Accreditation 3 approaches on Monday evening 22nd April starting at 8pm. 10 members booked in to do this. Expect more group riding with plenty of breaks in the middle. Bring plenty of fuel, liquid and solid. It's fun. M

No problem, happy to organise. The next thing is to agree how we take it from here? There is no point in having accreditation and not using it. If we arrange drop in bookings we then need to work out what we do during the session? Are there any views?

Morley
Have you done accreditation ? When can we get access to track any specific times ?
I would just like to ride the track and get used to it first for the first session.
if we need we could hire a coach to help structure the next session. What do you think ?
Who is interested ?

Yes I finished Accred in March. I go in once a week for the 8 am session. This week I was in on Tuesday. 5 riders on track. I am booked in for Monday 27th 8a.m. Session. You can book on-line and pay on arrival £10 inc bike etc. At the moment the accredited rides are mostly morning, lunchtime but none evening apart from Friday. Yes we could get a coach. We need to pick a session and for a reasonable number commit to being there.

Hi Morley I think it would be really good if we could manage to grab one of the Friday evening sessions. Judging by the numbers that went through accreditation we should get sufficient numbers. I would be up for this option.
On a session I think it would be really good to do some track racing e.g team pursuit, points race, devil take the hindmost and sprinting. It would be really good if we could get confident and ready for riding the track league this winter.
Cheers
Tref

Good in theory but a Friday evening is busy. EKRC seem to use it as a coaching session so any sort of racing would be difficult to do. The morning sessions are quiet. This morning only 4.
