I am planning on changing the gearing on my bike over the winter to allow me to spin (!) up hills and take some of the pressure off my antiquated knees. Advice on what I should be looking for would be appreciated. At the moment my front rings are 36t and 46t and my rear cassette is 10 speed and (I think!) 11/28. A solution which does not require me to completely rebuild my bike would be preferred. Thanks in anticipation!

Hello Virginia. You could either change your chainset for a compact which would give you a 34 inner ring but would increase your outer upto a 50. Alternatively you could just change the inner to a 34.
Ross.
