Hello All,
Please see below for the list of those who've said they're coming along to Glentress on Saturday. Those names in bold have a bike hired for them at Alpine Bikes. 3 other people apart from myself have volunteered to take their cars. That's 10 people and 5 bikes to fit into 4 cars. That is possible but it'll be a bit of a squeeze, bearing in mind that everyone should have a bag of spare clothes, etc. with them. Can anyone else bring a car? If not, we'll make do with what we have.
- Beverley Ashton
- Trefor Baker
- Will Cairney (car)
- Bryan Carroll
- Kevin Duffy (car)
- Ross Cunningham
- Garry Quinn (car)
- Steven Quinn
- Pauline Taylor (car)
- Russell Walker
I've not had any comments back regarding rendezvouz time/location, so I'm going to continue with my suggestion from my earlier email (below).
Please meet at St James' at 7:45am for an 8:00am departure. It's about 1 hr 45mins ish of a journey.
Here are some pointers for those who are not regular mountain bikers. I apologise if I'm teaching anyone's Granny how to suck eggs:
- bike hire is £20 for the day
- helmet hire is included in the price, but you might want to bring your own lid. I would
- bikes come with flat pedals or you can ask for SPDs on the day. You can bring your own SPD shoes if you want the latter, trainers will do for the former.
- Roadie shoes do not - I repeat, do not - fit into mountain bike SPDs
)
- A change of clothes, toiletries and a towel are highly advisable, as you'll end up mockit. There are shower facilities on site which cost a couple of quid. Bring a few poly bags for your muddy gear.
- remember some money as there's a cafe on site. It's also £3 per car for a day's parking.
- Some bits of Glentress are very exposed (and it's November!), so mind your cold weather kit.
Please email me if you need any further info or if anything from the list of names is incorrect, e.g. someone now can't make it, someone else wants to come along or someone now can't bring their car.
Here is a link to the official Glentress website:
www.7stanesmountainbiking.com/Glentress---Innerleithen. My thoughts are to do the green and blue runs along with the skills area. If anyone feels frisky later on then we can try a bit of the red run too. But we'll play it by ear on the day too.
Feel free to email, or to text or call me on 07940 583953 if you've any queries.
Cheers
Kevin
