Ok folks this is only 8 weeks away so we need to get some teams together. Its ten miles and you are off in teams of two. We had great fun last year doing the team time trial and all the training. If youve never ridden a team time trail dont worry we will have a good practice in the weeks before hand. So far we have;
Trefor Baker/Alastair Macleod
Virginia Beckett/ Pauline Taylor
Sean Murphy/
Morley Rowe/
If you are interested in taking part in this event put youre name below. Once I have an idea of numbers Ill match up the riders.
It would be good to have a couple of combine teams with the St Christophers. Mandy you reading this?

There are some St. Christies riding this event. I will check and see if anyone is looking for a partner and can maybe ride with a glenmarnock rider. I am afraid I think Mandy is riding with her hubby.
Will let you know on this forum if we have any lonely hearts. I believe the event is run down in the Irvine direction. On the subject of TT's we plan to hold our first one of 2014 on 5th Jan on the A77, good training for the icebreaker, will keep you posted.
In the meantime merry christmas from St. Christopher's

Starting to look good. Lets have a good turn out for the St Christies 10 on the 5th. Happy to have this as our first training session if folk agree.

I don't see a problem if anyone would like to ride the St. Christies 10 on the 5th Jan as a 2 up!
Not only would this encourage more riders it would also be good training for the icebreaker teams.
Cheers Dave T
Keep you all posted on times and exact location of start.

Ha ha I've just read this. It's become a bit of a tradition for Alan to drag me round this as fast as I can go. I'd hate to let him down . Last year I was so slow he ejected my bike from the roof of the car on the way home

The Christie's TT on 5 Jan 2014, is that a book-via-BC-website event (if it is, I can't find it...) or does one just turn up on the day with one's £1?
Where and when is the start?

Just turn up for it - no booking. No £1 required either (although feel guilty as they lay on coffee and biccies!). Starts around 10.30 - it's the same start place as our own TT.

With regard to ST. Christies time trial on 5th, we don't even charge £1 for all your suffering. You just need to turn up at the meeting point and sign up. Please remember if anyone wants to ride as 2 up they are more than welcome.
Hope the weather improves and we get a good turnout

Ok folks, Beverly cant do the race as its in the morning and she has other committments. Mandy is doing the race with hubby. No one else has indicated an interest so the teams are as follows;
Trefor Baker/Alastair Macleod
Virginia Beckett/ Pauline Taylor
Sean Murphy/ Morley Rowe
Douglas MacArthur/ Kevin Duffy
A very respectable number of teams with good matched ability.
Ill do the entry of everyone. Im hoping its on line but Ill do it if its postal as well.
The St Christies 10 is a club confined event that we are invited to. There is no entry fee but Im going to take up some pies for them on the 5th. David says we can ride it in twos so its good training. I wouldnt advise using your best bike however what with the salt and all.
After the tt on the 5th we need to start planning our training.

Al and I did a not disgraceful 32:16 for the 10 today. Kevin showed the benefit of his winter training regime with a solo 29:49. The next St Christies 10 will be on the 2nd of February so all teams will have the chance to practice for the Icebreaker on the 16th.
Now Ive discussed with Mandy, Al and Kevin restarting the team time trial training so we can train for the Icebreaker as a club. Folk not riding the event can also join in the fun. Monday suits these folk but I need to hear from others. Plan would be to meet at the Mall at 7pm. The road is well gritted and all junctions are floodlight. Its very quite at night. Good lights are required. So thoughts folks.

29:52, eck-tually; which was one second slower than the St Christie's rider, Colin Meikle, who won the TT on 29:51. I asked for a steward's enquiry but was refused. Good fun all round, if a bit on the Baltic side.

The first Team Time Trial training session will take place on Monday 13th of January. We will meet at the Malleshaugh Inn at 7pm. You will need good lights that you can see in the dark with, ie not just blinkers. We will ride up to the second roundabout and back using a double paceline. Dont worry if you have not done this before, we will keep you right. The first aim for the first night is to keep a short distance from the wheel in front (idealy half a wheel but more if its more comfortable for you). The second aim is to ride at a set tempo so the train keeps together. Even if you are not riding in the time trial you can still come and join in.

One person from each team will have to enter that team. I cant enter the teams anymore, no longer have that feature on my account. Dont hang around as the start sheet is filling up. I have entered me and Alastair.
